I am taking my first lesson towards a private pilot license tomorrow. I just hope the weather holds out. Sunday is supposed to be brutal. I am excited and just had to tell someone.
For your time.

Have fun. It is an amazing experience. Ask questions and have fun. See if they will do some stalls, spirals and other fun stuff.

My first flight was relatively uneventful. There's not much you can do in a $50 half hour introductory flight. My second flight on the other hand...
A front had just finished moving through right before my flight was scheduled. All of their 172's were rented out or otherwise unavailable, so the only thing they had left was a ratty, old 152 that probably had more hours on the Hobbs than the rest of the flight school's fleet combined. My instructor told me that it'd be pretty bumpy up there, especially in that tiny 152, and asked me if I wanted to reschedule. I was so pumped to get up in the air that I said no, I wanted to fly that day.
To say it was bumpy in that little 152 would be an understatement of galactic proportions. It felt like King Kong had the plane by the tail and was trying to shake me out. It was on this flight that my flight instructor (probably purposely) decided that I should learn turns around a point. Trying to visually fixate on a point on the ground while my plane felt like it was constantly being kicked by a giant did do any favors to my inner ear. It was the only time that I've been close to being airsick and was also the only time that I've ever cut a flight short.
Lesson learned: If a flight is scheduled to occur a half an hour after a front moves through, cancel it.

I am going an hour long first lesson, the schools normal lessons are 1.5 hours. I don't have a lot of expectations for the flight, I am trying to look at it more like an interview to see if I can learn from and get along with the CFI before I start handing him large chunks of money.
I talked to the instructor this morning and they weren't flying due to lightning and low visibility but the weather looks like it should improve by 3.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Being able to get along with your instructor is absolutely crucial.

If you get a bit airsick, don't worry about it. It passes in a few flights.

Exactly what the CFI said. I really didn't have a problem even though it was pretty turbulent. It was a ton of fun and I am excited for the next lesson. I think the hardest thing, at least at first, will be trying to figure out how to steer with my feet and overriding my instinct to grab the yoke while taxing.
